We asked the Brands a few questions about their product and their company.
This is what they told us:

own feedback from his polar expeditions. Devold Expedition ARCTIC hood is especially suitable for women, as the millions of microscopic airspaces in the Merino wool fabric provides extra comfort and warmth. The Expedition ARCTIC hood is made for extreme weather conditions and proven on several polar expeditions. This means that all the solutions have been thoroughly tested under the toughest conditions, and every feature has a purpose. The Expedition ARCTIC insulates extremely well and has a unique ability to transport moisture. The inner layer and next-to-skin are made of 100% Merino wool, while the outer layer is 90% Aqueduct- treated Merino wool, combined with 10% polyamide to improve durability and wicking effect. The unique Aqueduct Merino wool -developed by Devold- is specifically designed to transport moisture away from the inside of the fabric -and the body- to the outer surface where it evaporates. The Features: In front you have a kangaroo pocket, placed above the waistline, and below the chest-area for keeping batteries warm and providing easy access to equipment. The pocket is developed with a closing-system to prevent items from falling out.The Articulated & close-fitted hood is developed for protecting face and chin against cold temperatures and has included eyelets for improved ventilation and perspiration. This avoids the face-protection from getting wet from the moist you breath out and can be crucial when the temperatures drop. The hand-gaiters are long and in double layer fabric with flexible thumbholes that fits comfortable around the wrist and hand. All seams are flatlock to avoid any unnecessary abrasion.Because in extreme conditions, every detail becomes crucial.

"Tell us more about your COMPANY / PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY... "

COMPANY: Our goal is to make wool clothes without a negative impact on nature. Using natural material, extending the product´s lifetime through design, repair, reuse, sharing and rethinking waste.
Today we are 84 % natural and only use a few synthetic materials, exclusively to increase the durability of the garment. We continuously work to replace synthetic fibres with natural and degradable fibres.
All Devold wool is traceable and over 60 percent can be traced all the way down to the farm where the wool came from. Our garments are even marked with the farm where the wool came from.
Although we transport merino wool across large distances, we mainly use transport by sea or land. To reduce our carbon footprint, we’ll try to move all our production to our factory in Lithuania.

PRODUCT: In DEVOLD we have decided than NONE of our product should ever consist of less than 50% wool.

Hehe yep! As mentioned earlier in the application form, this shirt is developed in cooperation with the explorer Børge Ousland. He has been using an old version of the Expedition hoody on several expeditions and is very fond of the products -that is also why we made the new ARCTIC shirt. To the point: When I was developing the hood for this shirt, I insisted on making a new solution – not using the old solution the explorer liked so much. I wanted to do even better and developed the new hoodie. But since Børge liked the old solution so much, my superior insisted we keep the old solution. Stubborn as I am, I informed him that we would then use the new and improved solution on the women-style (as it is really sooo much better than the old version), and the men could keep the old solution. Now, long story short: Our explorer got a sample with the new solution to test…. And what happened…? He liked it better than the old version!
