GOLD WINNER

The Aclima WoolNet Light crew shirt rightly deserves the Outdoor Professional Gold Award. Although already in 2010 prizes were awarded for Aclima Woolnet, the women‘s model which comes in the spring 23 on the market impresses with women-specific and functional cut and feminine body mapping with optimal professional placement of the net. There is currently no lighter (80g) and more functional (100% Merino) comparable women‘s baselayer on the market.

We asked the Brands a few questions about their product and their company.
This is what they told us:

One of Aclima’s biggest success stories, the WoolNet is now available in a lighter and softer version in 100% Wool (Merino). The warp knitted wool mesh construction traps body heat while releasing excess heat at the same time. These products offer a high degree of insulation used as base layer, and high moisture transportation and breathability as a single layer. The WoolNet Light products are specially made for high performance activities, such as running in the mountains, hiking and trekking.

What makes your product a perfectly developed PIECE OF GEAR FOR WOMEN?

We wanted to make the lightest, and the most softest garment in as much wool mesh as possible. The product has been thoroughly tested over 1 year by our female (and male) test members and the feedback has been phenomenal! The product has been optimized in terms of fit and comfort for women. To cover exposed areas we have chosen our soft LightWool fabric in 100% Wool (Merino).

"What MATERIALS is your product made off? "

100% Wool (Merino)

"Tell us more about your COMPANY / PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY... "

Aclima AS aim to reduce the use of plastic based fibre in the outdoor industry. Wool is a fibre with fantastic properties for outdoors, and we aim to replace plastic based fibre with wool where possible. Aclima garments must have purpose, function, durability and multiple uses.

Aclimas production policy is to source the wool ourselves, and work closely with the whole supply chain to follow the wool and production. Spinners, knitters, dyeing – and finishing, cutting- and sewing; all processes are in Europe which allows us to visit frequently and follow up our supply chain. Aclima is member of Ethical Trade Norway from 2022 and will report to them as well as authorities. Code of Conduct to suppliers are attached.

The product is made of the finest wool and yarn possible to knit a warp-knit mesh construction. This is to create a material with low weight, high insulation and comfort, that can be washed at low temperatures. Wool does not require as frequent wash as some other materials, it is less likely to start smelling after use. No odour-additives in the material, and no softeners required when washing to cover the smell of the garment.

"We know there are FUN FACTS and / or a BACKSTORY! Please share!"

In 2018 the Afghan woman Hanifa Yousoufi became the first woman to scale Mount Noshaq (7429m) the tallest peak in Afghanistan. She was assisted by our ambassador Vibeke Sefland. On their expedition they were both wearing Aclima WoolNet as base layer. After this successful expedition, Vibeke suggested if we could make an even lighter and softer WoolNet. With a lot of research, development and testing by our male and female ambassadors, the result is here.
