That Exped revolutionized the mat market in 2001, 19 years ago. At that time we came up with the brilliant idea of simply using down in the mat. The Downmat not only won the European Outdoor Award (wasn‘t it smiled at first?), it also made winter camping suddenly much more pleasant. Perhaps that‘s an introduction to the R-Value. That we were significantly involved in the development of this standard method and the R-Value standard is now also in the name of our new mat line.
